The Gaelic name for the ash tree is Nion (pron. ‘neen’). Nion is a symbol of growth. This tree reaches high. It speaks of flourishing, of realising our dreams while staying rooted in our past and our people. Nion is a gentle giant than protects the child within. In the ancient lunar calendar Ash represented 16th May – 12th June.
