The Gaelic name for the Buckthorn is Muin (pron. ‘mwin’). Muin is a symbol of protection. In folklore, muin is potent, protective and compelling - so powerful that it was only touched by skilled hands, who could harness its ability to heal while staying mindful of its dark side.
